He hesitantly walked down the hall and poked
his head in the door. Seeing her caught up in whatever
was under the microscope, he took a deep breath and walked into the room.
“Hey...”
She turned to him and flashed a bright smile.
“Hi...” Pushing her chair back, she motioned towards the scope. “Wanna take a look?”
He nodded and bent his head, inhaling her
scent deeply. “Nice...uh...nice work, I mean...”
He stood upright and looked down at her. He
quickly diverted his eyes.
“Griss? You okay?”
“Huh? Oh...uh...yeah...”
“Did you need something? I mean...I know you
didn’t come in here just to check on my progress...” She chuckled lightly.
He leaned against the table behind him and
folded his arms across his chest. He gave her a brief smile, then
lifted his hand to rub his neck nervously.
“I...well, I need to
go out to the body farm. I was wondering
if you’d like to...well, if you’d want to...uh...will you go with me?”
She grinned and pushed herself up from the
chair, leaning against the table opposite of him. “Depends...”
He tilted his head slightly and silently
questioned her.
“Do you consider it a...date?”
A cold sweat broke out on the back of his
neck. “Um...well...do you?”
“Do you want me to?” Her grin widened at his
nervousness.
His eyes darted around the room as he shifted
his weight from one foot to the other. “Sara...I...”
She gently placed her hand on his forearm.
“Pick me up at seven?”
He gave her a slow nod and sighed as he
watched her walk from the room.

There was a time when she would’ve been
nervous waiting for him to arrive. But, not tonight.
Perhaps it was the fact that he was so nervous as he
was asking her out. She smiled fondly at the memory of him stammering and
blushing. Surprisingly, his nerves seemed to put her own at ease.
She grinned as she heard the soft, tentative
knock on her door. Pulling the door open, she laughed softly. “You’re early...”
He shrugged his shoulders as a smile appeared.
“I know...it’s a slight fear I have...”
“OCD?” She moved to the side to allow his entry.
He shook his head as he walked in and closed
the door behind him. “No...afraid you’d change your
mind...”
“Now, why would I change my mind?”
His eyes met hers and he watched a devilish
grin play on her lips.
“You know how long I’ve been waiting...to go
to the body farm...” She paused for a brief moment. “...with you.”
He smiled sheepishly at her. “Well, I wanted to
ask you a while back...but...things got a little...” His voice trailed off,
seemingly looking for the right word.
“Confusing?” She offered for him.
He nodded. “Yeah...confusing.”
Their eyes met and locked. His could feel his
pulse start to rise...and for once, it had nothing to do with anger. Taking a
deep breath, he licked his lips and silently prayed that his vocal cords would
work.
“Uh...maybe we should...um...go...”
Her eyes darkening slightly, she smiled and
nodded without breaking her gaze. “Okay, I just need to get my jacket.”
He swallowed the lump in his throat and tried
to steady the wild thumping in his chest as she retrieved her jacket and walked
to the door. Turning to look at him, she smiled softly. “You coming?”
He stared at her as he exhaled slowly.
She tilted her head and gazed at him.
“Griss? Are you okay?”
He gave her a small smile and a quick nod.
“Yeah...I’m okay. I was just...thinking...I guess.”
She smirked at him and gestured towards the
door. “Are you coming?”
“Oh...yeah...yes, I am...let’s go.”
With a trembling hand, he closed the door
behind him and made sure the lock had latched.

They walked side by side across the field. He
glanced upwards towards the sky, smiling at the brightness of the stars that
couldn’t be seen in the city.
“Orion...”
He turned to look at her quickly. “What?”
She smiled gently and pointed towards the sky.
“Orion...it’s my favorite constellation.”
He chuckled lightly. “Favorite constellation? Why is it your favorite?”
She shrugged her shoulders quickly and hid her
smile. “Well...because it was the only one I could pick out...”
He smiled widely at her and began talking
slowly. “You know...Orion was a hunter and always took his dogs, Canis Major
and Canis Minor, with him on his hunting expeditions. They really enjoyed
hunting Lepus and Taurus...” He paused to quickly
point out the two constellations to her.
“Anyway...Orion was in love with Merope...she was one of the seven sisters that form that
constellation there...Pleiades. Merope would have
nothing to do with him though. On one of their hunts, Orion was killed when he
stepped on Scorpius...” He quickly scanned the sky.
“There...that’s Scorpius, the scorpion. The gods felt
sorry for Orion after his death. So...they put him and his dogs into the sky as
constellations. They also put two of their favorite
animals there with them for them to hunt at night. Scorpius,
however, was put all the way over there...on the other side of the sky...so
that he could never hurt Orion again.”
“Really...”
He shrugged his shoulders and grinned. “Well,
it’s Mythology...that’s my favorite version of
Orion...”
She looked across the sky silently. “So...do
you know where Virgo is?”
He nodded and pointed. “Right there...Virgo.
To the Babylonians, she was the Goddess of the Stars...and was in love with the
God of Corn, Tammuz. Tammuz was killed and each year, Virgo travels to the
Underworld to bring him back. While Virgo is in the Underworld, it’s Winter...when she returns with Tammuz...well, Spring
arrives.”
She grinned broadly at him. “I thought bugs
were your thing...”
“They are...but...I have other interests you
know...”
“Well...where’s your constellation?”
“Leo...there.” He pointed towards the bundle of stars in the sky.
“And...what is Leo’s
story?”
They began walking slowly towards an old
pick-up truck sitting in the middle of the field. “Leo...was the lion sent by Hera to kill Hercules.” He grinned at her as she leaned
against the cold metal of the vehicle. “Hercules...strangled Leo with his bare
hands and wore his skin...which made Hercules...invincible.”
She chuckled lightly. “So...you’re dead and
skinned...and...I go every year to bring back my dead lover?”
He gave her a crooked grin and moved to stand
in front of her. “Yeah...something like that.”
He raised his hand and gently stroked the soft
skin of her cheek. He smiled as her eyes closed and she inhaled deeply. Moving
his body closer to her, he allowed his hand to move to her neck and pull her
towards him. His lips tentatively brushed against hers before he pulled back
slightly.
Her eyes opened quickly and her hands grasped
the collar of his jacket, pulling him back to her forcefully. Her mouth claimed
his as her own. He groaned as he felt her tongue slip inside of his mouth,
teasing his own. His body involuntarily pressed against her, pushing her
against the truck.
Her fingers began working on the buttons of
his shirt as he held her hips against his. He broke the kiss suddenly and
looked at her.
“Sara...” He looked around quickly at their
surroundings. “We’re...at the body farm...”
She nodded mischievously. “Yeah...I know...” Her
fingers slid the buttons loose, opening his shirt slightly to reveal his chest
to her.
“I...Sara...no...not
here...”
Her hands stilled on his chest, the heat
radiated throughout his body. “What?”
“I...well...if this is where we’re going...I’d
like for our...well...I’d like for our first time to be a little more...I don’t
know...secluded, maybe?”
“Seclusion? Griss...we’re at the body farm...no one is around...”
“That’s not what I mean...I mean...” He sighed
heavily and held her hands in his. “I mean...I want our first time together to
be...special...and...not out in the open...”
Her smile returned quickly. “Well...how about
we go back to my place?”
He nodded wordlessly and pulled her from the
truck. They quickly made their way back to his Tahoe...and back to her
apartment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
He followed her silently down the hall to her
bedroom.
What if this is too soon? I mean...hell, I just took her out for our first date. Date...is that
what it was? I didn’t even take her to dinner. I just...took her to the body
farm. Is that really a date? What if she thinks that this is all I want. Sex. Well...sex...with
her...stop it Gil. You’re not helping here. I want her...but...does she really
realize that I want...more. That I want a relationship with
her. A relationship? Yeah...that is what I
want.
The soft click of the latch on the bedroom
door broke his thoughts and he turned to look at her. She quickly made her way
to him and wrapped her arms around him. He held her closely against him as she
nuzzled his neck.
“Sara?”
“Hmm?” Her fingers
had already pulled his shirt open and she was gently kissing his chest.
“I...this...we...uh...”
She took a step from him and quickly rid
herself of her clothes and stood before him. “Is this what you want, Griss?”
His eyes travelled across her form.
“Yes...no...I mean...yeah...it is...but...”
“I’m yours...if you want me...”
He swallowed the lump in his throat as she
quickly undid his belt and began working his pants down and off. “For how long?”
She gently pushed him onto the bed and crawled
in beside of him. “How long?”
He pulled her body against his and kissed her
softly. “How long are you mine?”
She ran her fingers through his curls and
smiled. “Depends...”
He pushed himself up on his elbow and looked
down at her. “On?”
She grinned at him and pulled him over her.
“How long do you want me?”
He gasped lightly as she wrapped her legs
around his waist and pulled him closer to her. “For as long as you’ll let me
stay...”
Her eyes closed in ecstasy as he pushed
himself inside of her. Her hands held his shoulders as she met his gentle
thrusts. His tongue danced across her skin, his ears savored
her light moans and the soft tones in which she called his name.
A smile graced his lips as he heard a soft
response from her as he continued moving slowly inside of her. Pushing her slowly towards the edge.
“Would...forever...be...too long?”
