He was in a blind panic as he grabbed his cell
phone and hurriedly punched the numbers.
"Willows."
"Catherine, get to the
hospital...now!"
"Grissom? Is everything okay?"
"It's Sara."
That was all she heard before she heard the
click of the disconnection.

He nervously looked over to the passenger
seat. "Sara? How are you?"
"It hurts Griss...it
hurts." She cried out as another wave of pain swept through her.
He took hold of her hand and tried to control
the shake in his voice. "I know honey. We're almost there."

Catherine sprinted into the hospital, her eyes
searching for him. She spotted him pacing in the waiting room and ran to his
side.
"Grissom?" He turned to her and she saw the worry in his eyes.
"Is she okay?"
He hung his head and sighed. "I don't
know Cath...they took her up to emergency
surgery." His body shook slightly. "Her blood pressure hit the roof, they wouldn't let me go with her."
A tear fell from his eye as Catherine put her
arm around him. "Everything will be okay."

He had taken the night off to stay with her.
She had been very ill all day and he just didn't feel right leaving her alone.
He was glad now. He didn't want to think about what could've happened if he
hadn't been there.
He quietly stood and walked to the window. He
was lost and Catherine wasn't sure how to deal with him.
"Griss?" He slowly turned his eyes from the lights of Vegas
to her, but didn't utter a word. "She's going to be okay."
He slowly nodded. "But what if she's not?
I need to be with her."
Turning back to the skyline, he fought back
his tears.

It had taken him years to admit his feelings
to her. They began dating last year. She became his life and tonight there was
a possibility that his life as he knew and loved could end. He knew that he
needed to be optimistic, but he was scared. It was the look in her eyes when he
got to her, it was the panic in her voice that he had heard.
She was taking a hot bath. Her back had been
hurting so badly. Then the pain hit her, shooting through her abdomen.
"GIL!"
He had run to her, knocking over the orchid in
the hall. He ran in the bathroom to find her still in the tub, sobbing, and
clutching her stomach in obvious pain.
"Oh God!" He quickly slipped his arms around her and gently
lifted her from the water. "Honey, it's okay. I'm here."
She looked at him through weak eyes and whispered
one word. "Hospital."
He quickly wrapped her in his robe and carried
her to the car. He had made a 15 minute trip in less than 5.

"Mr. Grissom?"
He and Catherine quickly turned to the voice,
finding the smiling eyes of the doctor. He rushed over to him. "Yeah, I'm
Grissom."
The doctor smiled. "Sara is fine, she came through the surgery beautifully."
Grissom searched the doctor's eyes for something else. "Apparently, there
was a miscalculation. Your son is full-term and
perfectly healthy."
For the first time tonight, a smile broke
across Grissom's face. "She's okay? He's okay? Both of
them?"
"Oh yeah, and quite a
set of lungs on him!"
Grissom laughed. "Gets
it from his mother."
He turned towards Catherine, who was grinning
broadly with tears streaming down her face. He picked her up and swung her
around in his arms. "I have a son!"
He looked back to the doctor. "Can I see
them now?"
"Of course, follow me."

He rushed into the room to find her lovingly
cuddling their child. She slowly lifted her eyes to him and smiled. "Hi Daddy."
She looked back down to her son as he made his
way to the side of the bed. "He has your eyes...look how blue they
are."
Grissom reached over and touched his son's
dark hair. "And he has your nose." He gently kissed his son's head
and then placed a tender kiss on Sara's lips. "You okay?"
"Yeah…I’m good."
He smiled at her. "Catherine's
here..."
"Really? Well, get her in here...she is the Godmother, you know."
Grissom ran to the door and stuck his head
out. He found her standing in the hall and motioned for her. She quickly made
her way into the room.

He was quietly sitting in the chair holding
the newborn and feeding him a bottle when Catherine walked in the room.
"Well, there's no doubt of whose child he is. I would've picked him out as
yours from a nursery of 100."
Grissom and Sara both laughed and then Grissom
smiled at her. "Cath? Wanna
hold your Godson?"
Catherine's eyes lit up as Grissom gently
handed her the baby. After a few minutes, she realized something.
Looking over at Grissom and Sara, she smiled. "Guys? What's my Godson's name?"
Sara let out a giggle as Gil chuckled. They
had discussed this for months and had only come to an agreement the night
before.
"William Sidle
Grissom."
"William?" Catherine smiled.
Sara returned her smile as Grissom explained. "Her favorite actor's name or
something."
Catherine laughed. "William Sidle
Grissom...it has a nice ring to it. What are you going to call him?"
Gil grinned. "Will."
"Will?"
"Yep, my idea
too." Sara smiled proudly.
"Rhymes with 'Gil'...he wouldn't let me name the baby after him..."
"I hate the name Gilbert" Grissom
quietly muttered.
"...so, I got the closest that I
could...Will Grissom."
Catherine smiled and leaned down to kiss
Will's head. "Guys...I think we have some phone calls to make!"
