"Grissom?"

He blinked his eyes and slowly looked up to see Catherine smiling at him. "Yeah?"

"So what has your attention tonight?"

"Huh?" He was thoroughly confused. 'How long has she been here?' "Nothing, why?"

"Well, I asked you a question 5 minutes ago."

"Oh? I'm sorry Cath...I was concentrating on this photo from the crime scene. What was your question?"

Catherine walked to the side of his desk and glanced at the picture. She couldn't control her smile. "Tread marks? Or Sara?"

"What?"

"Which were you concentrating on?"

He sighed heavily and laid the picture on his desk. "Cath..." He looked up at her. "Your question?"

"Not important...answer me. Treads or Sara?" Her smile was beaming at him.

"I'm not discussing this with you."

She pulled a chair up and sat down. "You just admitted it."

"Admitted what?"

"The source of your concentration." Her smile was getting brighter by the second.

He removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes. 'How am I going to get myself out of this conversation?' Slowly he shook his head, there was no way out.

"Do you love her?"

His eyes snapped back to her. "What?"

"Do you love her? Don't lie to me Griss."

He knew there was no point in trying to lie. She could read him too well. "Cath...I don't...know...maybe...yeah." He looked at her and whispered. "Yes, I do."

Catherine jumped up and wrapped her arms around him. "I knew it!"

"Cath..." He was gently trying to pry her off of him. "Come on Cath, let go."

She released her hold and sat back down. "So..."

"So, what?"

"Have you told her?"

He shifted slightly in his chair. "Well...no...not exactly."

"And why not?"

He shot her a look that said it was none of her business, but for some reason kept talking. "What would be the point?"

"What do you mean?" Her smile faded somewhat.

"Catherine, I'm 15 years older than her..."

"So?"

"I'm slowly losing my hearing..."

"Yeah?"

"And then there's...him..." He let his eyes fall to the floor.

"Griss, look at me." He lifted his eyes to her slowly. She was shocked to see the unshed tears filling them. "Griss...'he' isn't an issue. You do know that, right?"

His voice was barely above a whisper. "No...I don't."

She gently wiped a tear from his eye and smiled at him. "She's confused Gil. She loves you, but she doesn't know what to do. You keep sending her mixed signals."

"You don't know that Catherine."

"I don't know what?"

"That she loves me." He leaned back in his chair and let his eyes focus on the calendar across the room.

She gently touched his arm as he closed his eyes. "I do know Griss..." He opened his eyes and looked at her. She saw the question in his eyes. "I know because she told me earlier."

"What?" He leaned forward, his elbows resting nervously on the arms of his chair.

She saw the excitement in his eyes. "She was having a bad night, I knew something was bothering her." She watched his eyes for his reaction. "I'm not blind...I see how the two of you act together." She saw a glimpse of fear, then relief. "2 plus 2 equals what Grissom?"

"Four." She laughed at the touch of sarcasm in his voice.

She took his hand in hers and looked directly into his eyes. She knew he'd see the truth there. "You and Sara were made for each other."

She felt the tremble in his hand. "I'm scared Cath...for once in my life, I'm scared."

She smiled and squeezed his hand. "That's when you know it's real."

He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. "Where is she?"

"Last I saw her, she was in the break room."

He slowly nodded, stood, and walked to the door. He turned back to see an extremely happy Catherine. "Thanks Cath."

She nodded. "Go talk to her."

He slowly opened the door and made his way to the break room.

He walked in to find her sleeping on the couch. God, she's beautiful.

He slowly made his way to her and knelt on the floor beside of her. He could feel his heart flooding with emotions. Gently he reached out and stroked her hair. She stirred lightly and mumbled something incoherent. He smiled.

Then he heard something else. Did I just hear that? No...couldn't have.

Then he heard it again. No louder than a whisper, almost a sigh. "Grissom."

She's dreaming about me?

"Don't go...stay with me." His smile widened as he leaned over and kissed her forehead, then the tip of her nose, and finally brushed his lips against hers. She smiled in her sleep and reached for him.

Slowly her eyes opened to see him smiling sweetly at her. There's something different in his eyes.

"Hi there, sleepyhead."

"Hey...sorry, must've been more tired than I thought." She gave him her 'Grissom-smile'. "How long have you been here?"

"Not nearly long enough." The smile had reached his eyes.

"Hm?" She was very easily confused when first waking up.

"Sara?" His voice was low, not whisper-low, but...

What is that tone? Passion? No...couldn't be. She couldn't take her eyes away from his. "Grissom?"

His hand gently caressed her face. He could feel her pulse steadily rise under his touch. She looked towards the door and noticed that he must have closed it when he came in. She turned back to him, his eyes capturing hers. She read his eyes and slowly smiled, letting her fingers run through his hair.

She thought her heart would explode as he leaned down and kissed her. She returned his kiss with passion, savoring the taste and feel of his tongue.

He looked into her eyes and smiled. "Come on, I'll take you home." He helped her stand and watched as she walked to the coat rack.

She had her hand on the doorknob when he pulled her into his arms. "Sara?" She gazed into his eyes, instantly melting when she saw his tears. "Sara...I...um..." He shook his head and took a deep breath before looking back into her eyes. "I love you Sara."

She searched his eyes and found only love. She felt her own tears fall as she laid her head against his chest. "I love you too Grissom."

He lifted her face slightly and kissed her.

"Let's go home Sara." She nodded in agreement, then kissed him again.

Catherine's smile had never been brighter as she watched Grissom lead Sara to his car. His eyes never leaving her, his hand holding hers.

"It's about time." She softly whispered to herself as she watched them drive away.
