She stared at the man giving his presentation. She tapped her pen on her yellow legal pad in boredom. Chuckling silently to herself, she drew a stick-man in the margin. In the opposite margin, she drew a stick-woman pointing a bow at the stick-man. Across the page, she drew numerous arrows from the bow towards the stick-man.

I…hate…you…Grissom. UGH! Why did he make me come to this stupid lecture anyway? He’s the bugman…he should be here. What do I care about the mating rituals of beetles? And…really…what the hell does this have to do with forensic science?

"I’m sure that many of you are wondering how this subject correlates to your chosen profession of forensics…"

Sara’s attention was drawn back to the speaker, briefly worried that she had actually voiced that question. She glanced around the room and grinned lightly at the shocked expression on many of the faces in the audience.

Well, I wasn’t the only one…

"Absolutely not at all…that’s how it correlates…" The speaker chuckled loudly. "I just think the process is interesting…"

Great…an Entomologist with a sense of humor. Grissom…must…die.

"But what I’m getting ready to go into…all of you can use in your everyday cases…"

Even if there aren’t any bugs?

"Even if insects are not present at the scene."

Stop that, you damn weirdo…

She dropped her pen onto her legal pad as her cell phone vibrated silently against her side, signalling an incoming text. She quickly pulled the electronic gadget from her belt and read the message.

‘Having fun? G’

She rolled her eyes as she typed her response.

‘You will pay. S’

A few seconds later, as she was attempting to stifle her yawn, it vibrated again. She suppressed the growl in her throat.

‘Pay? It was free and it should be useful to you. Thought you would enjoy.’

Enjoy this? Damn him.

‘So I’m paying for what you would consider fun. YOU should be in here not me.’

After a long pause, she figured that he had miraculously gotten the hint that she was not quite happy. She drew another arrow on her page of artwork.

‘Wouldn’t let me go. Said it wouldn’t be beneficial to the lab. How are you paying?’

She read the message twice, seeing his amused smirk in his words. Her temper getting the best of her, she punched her angry response and sent it.

‘Fuck you Grissom.’

She smiled to herself in satisfaction. He should leave me alone now…he knows he’s in trouble…

She focused her attention on Dr. Andresen and stared blankly at the older man speaking in a monotone voice. Her pen drew a noose around the stick-man’s neck.

She glared at her phone as the gentle vibration began once again. "Dear God!"

She didn’t realize she had spoken at all, much less that she had spoken as loud as she had. Until she heard a few of the people around her snicker.

Boring Dr. Andresen chuckled as he glanced at the screen. "Dear God, indeed. This is probably something you haven’t seen, nor will you be likely to see in the future…"

Who the hell gives a shit?

She flipped open the phone and read the message.

‘Payment option has been accepted.’

Snapping the phone shut, she slid it back into her holster. Standing up, she grabbed her belongings and quickly stomped out of the room.

Dr. Andresen watched her leave with a smirk on his face. "I guess she doesn’t have the stomach for this line of work…"

A wave of laughter rose from the audience.

She walked out of the building and into the bright Nevada sunshine. Glancing at her watch, she realized that there was still two and a half hours left of Andresen’s lecture. She sighed heavily as she put on her sunglasses. Looking towards the road, she saw a familiar vehicle parked by the curb. Looking closer, she spotted a familiar person leaning against the front fender of said vehicle.

She stormed over to him, her anger intensifying somewhat as he crossed his arms over his chest and grinned at her. "What are you doing here?"

"Good afternoon to you as well, Ms. Sidle…"

She stood in front of him, her dark eyes shooting daggers from behind her sunglasses. "What are you doing here, Grissom?"

He chuckled lightly. "Figured you’d get bored…or mad…and leave. Looks like I was correct."

She glanced over her shoulder at the building she had just exited, then turned her shaded eyes back to him. "I suppose you’re going to make me go back in?"

He grinned and moved to open the passenger door for her. "Au contraire, mademoiselle…"

Her brow furrowed as she tilted her head. Not waiting for her to ask, he offered her a genuine smile. "Daniel Andresen is…uh…well…he’s…"

"Boring? Monotonous?" She paused for a brief second. "Not you?"

He blushed lightly. "Actually, I was going to say that he’s dedicated to his profession…very intelligent…but…he has never really learned how to give a lively seminar…"

She smiled at him for the first time. "Like I said…not you…"

He gave her his familiar lopsided grin and motioned towards the Tahoe. "You coming with me?"

She shook her head in amusement and climbed into the passenger seat.

After a long drive and a nice early dinner peppered with sparkling conversation, he pulled into the parking garage. As he drove up the ramp for the fifth level, she looked at him in confusion.

"Where are we going?"

He answered with a smile and a wink as the Tahoe climbed to the sixth level. "You’ll see…"

When they reached the ninth level, she was surprised to see that there were only a few vehicles parked. "Griss?"

He swung the SUV into an empty parking space far away from the nearest parked car. "This should be right…"

She eyed him carefully. "Right for what?"

He pointed towards the windshield. "For that…"

Her eyes followed the direction his finger was pointing. They were parked in front of one of the few openings in the wall of the parking garage. And as she looked out of the window, through the opening, she realized that she had a perfect view of the Las Vegas horizon…and the sun was beginning to set.

"I wanted to watch the sunset with you…but, it’s so damn hot outside. I hope this is okay…" His voice was soft, with an almost nervous tinge to it.

She inhaled deeply as the orange haze cast over the land stretched out in front of them. "It’s…more than okay…this is so…beautiful…"

His eyes were focused ahead of him as his hand reached out and rested on her thigh. "Not as beautiful as you…"

She stared at him silently as he continued to speak in his gentle tone. "I used to come here on the nights when I couldn’t get you out of my head. The nights that I would pick up the phone, dial the first six digits and hang up. The nights I wanted to be with you…but couldn’t." He turned to look at her as her fingers squeezed his hand. "I spent most of my evenings here…"

He pulled her hand to his lips and placed a soft kiss on her skin. "And…now I don’t have to spend most of my evenings here…alone."

She barely had time to take a breath before he leaned into her personal space, stopping mere millimeters from her lips and gazing into her eyes. Her body trembled, her lips tingled from his warm breath, her heart raced in her chest.

She lifted her hand to his face, her palm rested against his jawline as her thumb traced over his lips. His lips parted enough to allow his tongue to sneak out and sensuously lick the print on the pad of her thumb that was uniquely her own.

She gasped as she pulled her digit from his lips, quickly replacing it with her mouth. Her tongue dove hungrily into his mouth, seeking the rough muscle that often taunted her in her dreams. He groaned into her mouth as her search became a success.

Her fingers raked through his hair as he took his turn exploring her mouth. She leaned back in her seat, pulling him along with her. He pulled back from the kiss, his tongue finding its home behind his teeth. His glazed eyes stared at her as he attempted to control his breathing.

"I’ve always wanted to make love to you while watching a sunset…"

"Sara…"

Her fingers began sliding the shirt buttons free as she gazed into his eyes. Pulling his shirt open, she ran her hands up his chest and over his shoulders, effectively pushing the garment from his torso. Her fingers made quick work of his belt and found the button holding his slacks closed.

"Sun is going down, Grissom…"

He barely heard the metallic sound of his zipper over the rush in his head. His mind went into overdrive as he felt her long fingers wrap around his rapidly growing erection.

Placing his hand on the back of the seat beside of her shoulder, he leaned over her again, this time his lips finding her neck as she gently stroked him. Her right hand slid between the seat and the door, finding the lever quickly. She smiled as she pulled the lever, the pressure he was placing on the seat instantly pushing the back of the seat into a horizontal position.

Jerking his head up quickly, he was clearly startled as he stared at her. She offered him a grin and a slight shrug of her shoulders. "I thought this…might be more comfortable for us…"

He looked out the windows nervously as she tugged on the sides of his open slacks. Her soft chuckle captured his attention. "No one is around right now, Griss…"

He whimpered lightly as she released his erection. His eyes fell to her hands and widened noticeably as her fingers opened the button-fly of her jeans and began slowly sliding them down her long legs. She watched his throat bob lightly as he swallowed. Kicking her shoes off, she slid one leg out of her jeans.

"Considering…we’re in here…is this enough?"

His eyes travelled over her smooth, shapely legs…one of them completely bare…to the soft thatch of dark hair that his fingers loved to stroke…skimming over the light blue t-shirt…and finally meeting the seductive brown orbs gazing at him. He nodded wordlessly as he licked his dry lips.

"Come over here…"

He reached between her legs and lifted the lever underneath the seat. He smiled softly as he pushed the seat on the track as far back as it would go. With less grace than he intended, he slid onto the floorboard in front of her. Reaching underneath her, he lightly grasped the firm cheeks of her ass and gently pulled her to the edge of the seat.

"Are you sure? I mean…uh…this isn’t exactly how I…um…imagined…I mean with the sunset and…well…"

Smiling, she sat up and pushed his pants down his thighs. "So, you’ve thought about this too?"

He nodded quickly as she tugged gently on his hardened flesh, nudging the head against her wet folds. "Every…night that…I was here…"

Her eyes closed as he pushed into her depths, his hands tightening on her hips. "Mm…was it…oh, you…feel so…yes…was it…was it like…this?"

He bit his lip lightly as he pulled back and thrust into her again. "No…God, Sara…"

Her nails scratched across his ribcage as she pressed her head into the headrest. "Tell me…tell me what…"

He groaned as she pushed her hips up against him. "Sometimes…we were…in my bed…others…in yours…one time…oh, Sara…"

She moaned softly as he kept his strokes long, slow, and deliberate. "What…did we…mm…do?"

He sped up his pace gradually. "This…passionate…hot…" He felt her body begin to quiver beneath him, pushing him to thrust harder into her. "Always…ended the same…Sara…oh, Sara…"

Her scream was muffled as his mouth closed over hers, he plunged his tongue into her mouth in rhythm with his thrusts into her flooding depths. With a violent shudder, he erupted inside of her, his semen mixing with her juices.

He collapsed on top of her as his softening member slid from her. She stroked his back lovingly as he caressed her thigh.

"How…" She paused long enough to draw a deep breath into her lungs. "How did they…end?"

He lifted his head and gazed into her eyes. "I love you…"

Her mouth dropped open as he wrapped a strand of her dark hair around his finger. "What?"

He offered her a shy smile. "That’s how they ended…with…I love you…"

She glanced around as he pulled from her body and hesitantly redressed himself. "Looks like we missed the end of the sunset…"

He moved back into the driver’s seat and watched her as she pulled her jeans up before she readjusted the seat. "No…we didn’t…"

She looked at him curiously as she gestured to the dark sky in front of them. "It’s dark…"

He smiled as he leaned over and pressed a tender kiss to her lips. "Sunsets end with ‘I love you’…and…I love you, Sara…"

He chuckled nervously as she stared at him. "So…uh…do you forgive me for the seminar earlier…"

She shook her head lightly as a smile formed on her face. He raised an eyebrow as he tilted his head to the left. "No?"

"Take me home, Grissom…"

His confusion began to grow as he listened to the contradiction between her actual words and her tone. "What?"

She reached over and caressed his cheek as her smile widened. "Take me home…"

He nodded slowly and turned the ignition, bringing the Tahoe to life once again. "Okay…"

"We both have tonight off…"

"Yes…"

"And…if you dim the lights just right in my bedroom…it kinda looks like a sunset…"

His smile formed quickly as his confusion broke. Throwing the SUV into gear, he began the journey down nine stories of the parking garage…and onto the road that would lead them to her home for the second sunset of the night.
