She had been extremely quiet all night. Barely a full sentence had been uttered to anyone. He didn’t think she was mad at anyone, but her depression was quite evident. He was worried about her. He had known at the beginning of shift that there was something wrong, so he had put her with himself so that he could keep an eye on her. She worked quickly and efficiently, just like she always had before…but she wasn’t Sara tonight.

They had made it back to the lab and he retreated to his experiments while she went to drop off some samples. He had to get her to talk to him…he just didn’t know how. He walked back to the break room, hoping that Sara was done with Greg by now. She wasn’t in there though…but Catherine was.

"Hey Catherine."

"Hey Griss…everything okay?"

"Have you seen Sara lately?"

Catherine hid the smile behind her lips. "She was outside on the steps a minute ago."

"Okay…thanks." He turned and walked out of the room. He didn’t know what he was going to say to her…but it was killing him to see her this depressed and not being able to help her.

He walked out the front door and found her sitting on the steps, just like Catherine had said. "Hey."

She looked up at him. "Hi."

"You care if I sit with you?"

She shook her head. "If you want."

He sat down beside of her and watched as she took a long drag off of the cigarette she was holding. "I thought you quit."

"I did for the most part…it’s just that every once in a while, I need one, you know?"

"Yeah, I know." He was being truthful…every once in a while, he needed one too. But, he didn’t come out here to talk to her about their respective smoking habits.

"Sara? Are you okay?"

"Sure, Grissom. I’m fine." She looked at him and smiled. She also saw that he wasn’t buying her lie.

"Sara…talk to me."

She looked into his eyes and for the first time tonight, Grissom saw slight anger in them. "What the hell do you care what’s wrong with me?"

He sighed, his eyes never leaving hers. "Sara…what did I do this time?"

"Nothing." She turned to flip her cigarette into the parking lot and whispered to herself. "That’s the problem."

He couldn’t hear what she had said, but he could read her lips. He felt the smile grow in his heart. "Sara…" She turned back to look at him and he noticed a slight tremble in her body. "Sara, I know that you think I don’t have feelings. But, you’re wrong. I do…I just have problems showing them like you do."

She slowly shook her head and looked across the parking lot. Looking anywhere to keep from looking into his eyes. "I know you have feelings Grissom. I see them every once in a while."

"Just not often enough?" He watched as she lowered her eyes to the sidewalk beneath them.

"No, not often enough."

"Look at me Sara…please." She slowly turned her eyes up to his. "Talk to me, tell me what’s wrong."

"It’s not important, Grissom. Not now…not with Teri back in town."

"Sara…"

"I know you’re interested in her, you always have been. I heard that you two are going out tomorrow…" Her voice trailed off.

"Teri is a nice lady, Sara. And she asked me out for dinner. What you heard was wrong."

She looked back at him. "What?"

"She asked me out for tomorrow night…but I turned her down."

"Why?"

"Well, because I already had plans for tomorrow night…"

Sara looked back down at the ground. "Oh…"

Grissom smiled slightly before gently touching her knee. "…with you, Sara."

Her eyes snapped back to him. "Huh?"

He slowly leaned towards her, placing his hand on the back of her neck, gently pulling her towards him. He didn’t care if anyone saw him. He had held back for far too long.

He felt her body quiver as his lips touched hers softly. He smiled as he kissed her again. And again. The passion building with each kiss he gave to her. He felt her arms wrap around him as his tongue was granted permission into her mouth. He moaned lowly as her mouth left his to seek out his neck and slowly find its way to his ear.

His hands pulled her closer to him as she gently sucked his earlobe into her hot mouth. She could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He lightly whimpered as she released his ear, and shifted slightly from him.

"Sara?"

She took his hand and stood, walking slowly towards the parking lot.

"Where are we going?"

She stopped walking and looked up at him. Their lips met again, with more passion than before. Her hands were in his curls, massaging his scalp gently…driving him crazy. His hands drifted lower down her back until they came to a rest on her hips. He pulled her against him. She could feel his arousal…there wasn’t much he could do to hide it right now.

She slowly broke the kiss and gazed into his eyes. "Your house…shift’s over."

He glanced at his watch and grinned broadly when he realized she was right. "Are you sure?"

"That shift’s over? Yeah."

"No…that you want to go to my house…"

She pulled him in for a gentle, sweet kiss. "More sure than I’ve ever been."

He returned her kiss and opened the car door for her. Then he walked to his door and quickly climbed in. "I can bring you back later to pick up your car…if you want."

"Or…we can just come to work together tomorrow." She grinned as she buckled her seatbelt.

He leaned in for another kiss after he started the car. "Even better."

He fumbled with the key to his townhouse. He hadn’t been this nervous in a long time. He finally got the door unlocked and opened it for her. Following her in, he barely had the door closed when she pushed his back against it, frantically working on the buttons of his shirt.

"Oh…Sara!"

He reached out and pulled her shirt over her head and then pulled her to him. He loved the feel of her bare skin against his. Her mouth on his chest was sending his head spinning. He reached down between them and began unbuttoning her jeans.

"Mmm…Grissom…" Her voice was full of passion.

She gasped as she felt his fingers gently edge under the black lace panties she was wearing. She reached behind her back and unclasped her bra, wanting to feel his mouth on her breasts. He wasted no time in granting her wish, gently sucking and licking her already erect nipples.

He was out of his mind with desire for her…only wanting to please her. He loved her, he knew this. But would she believe him if he told her at this moment?

She whimpered as she felt his hand move away from her. He looked into her eyes and smiled, both hands gently tugging her jeans down.

"I just need a little more room in there, honey."

She quickly reached down and began to carefully rid him of his pants as well. She didn’t want to be too aggressive here. She carefully pulled his boxers over his straining erection, gasping as she felt his finger enter her. She loved him more than she had ever loved anyone. She knew he could see it in her eyes.

He closed his eyes and rested his head back against the door as she began to touch him, carefully yet purposely stroking him. He could feel the moisture on his hand as he slightly quickened his strokes on her. She cried out and at first he thought he had hurt her. His eyes snapped back open to look at her. Her eyes were closed and her skin was flushed. He smiled, knowing he had brought her to orgasm.

She slowed her manipulation of him and laid her head on his chest. He leaned down and lovingly kissed her shoulder. She gazed into his eyes, knowing she was completely in love with this man.

"Sara?" His voice was breathless. Her eyes met his, questioning him. "There’s something I need to tell you."

She sensed the tone in his voice and became a little concerned. He smiled down at her and softly whispered. "I love you."

She returned his smile as her eyes lit up. "I love you too." She lifted her mouth to his ear and softly whispered. "Make love to me Grissom."

He gently picked her up and carried her to his bedroom, tenderly kissing her lips all the way.

Two hours later they were sleeping soundly in each other’s arms. He was vaguely aware of a noise…an irritating noise.

"What the hell?" He sleepily asked no one in particular. Then he realized it was his cell phone.

"Yeah?" His voice was clearly agitated and drowsy.

"Grissom? Did I wake you?"

"Who…Catherine? What do you want?" He was slowly waking up.

"Is Sara with you?"

He gazed over at Sara sleeping soundly beside him. "Why?"

Catherine tried to hide the smile in her voice. "Well, I found a letter on your desk after you left."

"Huh?"

"I wasn’t snooping or anything…"

"I know Catherine…what kind of letter?"

"A letter from Sara."

"What?"

"I tried to find her to talk to her. But, she had already left…with someone because her car is still here."

"What did the letter say?"

"That she wasn’t sure where her life was going anymore…and that she needed to talk to you. I was hoping that she was with you after I noticed she was gone, but not with her car."

She heard him sigh lightly. "Sara’s here Catherine. She’s sleeping. We…talked…and she’s…we’re going to be just fine. We’re both sure where our lives are going now."

He leaned over and gently kissed Sara’s sleeping lips.

"Griss?"

"Hmmm?"

"I’m happy for you…for both of you."

"Thanks Cath. I’m happy too…for the first time in years." She could hear him smile. "And Cath?"

"Yeah?"

"Don’t mention this to Nick or Warrick…Sara wants to tell them, okay?"

"Sure, boss. Go back to sleep and I’ll see you tomorrow."

"Okay…goodnight Cath."

"Goodnight Grissom."

He hung up the phone and pulled Sara closer to him, relishing in her scent. "I know exactly where my life is going now."

He kissed the top of her head and felt her snuggle closer as she quietly murmured, "I love you Gil." He smiled and whispered back to her. "I love you Sara."
